Our Story

A father's mission to keep Hindi alive in his daughter's world.

Bolbala was born at a kitchen table, from a parent who watched his daughter slowly get frustrated with how tough and "not fun" Hindi was — a language he grew up speaking every single day.

Where it started

I grew up in North India. Hindi wasn't something I "learned" — it was every joke, every scolding, every bedtime story, every argument over cricket. It was woven into every moment of my childhood.

Then I moved abroad, started a family, and watched my daughter slowly drift away from it. She'd hear Hindi on calls with my parents, catch fragments at family gatherings — but she couldn't hold a real conversation. So I did what any parent would do: weekend classes, tutors, language apps. Nothing stuck. The classes felt like school. The apps treated Hindi like a foreign language. There was no spark.

The moment that broke something in me was a video call with my mother. My daughter wanted to tell her Dadi about a school project. She started in English, paused, looked at me for help, and then just said "Namaste, Dadi" and went quiet. My mother smiled, but I saw it in her eyes. And my daughter felt it too. She just didn't have the words.

That night I couldn't stop thinking: why is this so hard? Hindi is one of the most expressive, playful languages in the world. Why isn't there something that makes it click for children who live between two worlds?

The answer was simple. Nobody had built it. Hindi content that feels like play, not homework. Rooted in the culture, the stories, the festivals, the family connections that make the language come alive.

So I built it myself. That's Bolbala. Every story, game, video, and word comes back to one thing: a child who can actually speak Hindi — not just hear it around them.

बोलबाला

"Bolbala" means dominance, influence, reign — as in "the reign of speaking." It captures what we want: a world where Hindi doesn't just survive — it thrives. Children don't just hear it. They love it, speak it, and pass it on.
